Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Greg Pursley, Founder of Fix Your BS, located in Cape Girardeau, MO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Fix Your B.S. (Belief Systems) is a 5 Step Process to create the life you want in the 5 Pillars of life (Relationships, Health, Finances, Career, Faith). I help 30-55-year-old entrepreneurs and businessmen create the life they want in a shorter time than figuring it out on their own.

Tell us about yourself

In 2008 I was a 25-year-old chiropractor with a pregnant wife, a two-1/2-year-old daughter, a one-1/2-year-old business, and a huge future ahead of us. When my wife gave birth to my son, we quickly found out that he had dwarfism (achondroplasia), which is a rare genetic change and, in his case, caused all sorts of medical complications. Over the next ten years, our focus was keeping him alive and keeping the family together. I made business decisions based on fear and found myself with a career I didn't enjoy, finances that were messed up, a relationship that was on the verge of collapse, very little faith in our future, and deteriorated health. Fix Your B.S. is the process of me rebuilding my life, and now I share that process with others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Honestly, not going bankrupt. Figuring out a way to stay in business until I knew what decisions to make in order to create success in multiple ways. It was hard and took a lot of time because of other circumstances, but now I am stronger than ever with a new understanding.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The statement "it's lonely on top" is a true one that I never really understood until I was the owner of a multimillion-dollar company. You have different standards that you have to abide by in order to lead people toward the vision. Michael Jordan said it best "Success takes Sacrifice."

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Begin with the end in mind. Know your market and how you want to exit.
  2. Make sure you are in an industry that is a growing trend.
  3. Learn from Mentors that have already accomplished what you want to accomplish.
