Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sourav Ghosh, Founder of Fitness Regiment, located in Pune, India.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are the only fitness center in the country that provide army fitness training for civilians in a holistic approach along with conventional gym standards. From youth to old, every civilian is our potential customer who wants to stay fit and sound 24*7 like the military of the country.

Tell us about yourself

Fitness is a passion and a part of the complete lifestyle throughout my life, which motivated me to spread awareness in the most organic way. The way a military personnel is physically and mentally fit throughout his life always intrigues me, which is always a challenge in the current fast-paced sedentary tech-driven lifestyle of common civilians. With this vision, along with great help from ex-army highly accoladed trainers and seniors, we opened India's first ever military-style fitness program center in Pune by the name of FITNESS REGIMENT®. The positivity and happiness after a well-trained day on the face of every customer and their motivation to join our group classes each and every day is the biggest motivation for me to make this reach each and every individual of the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The massive response after a long hard struggle during the COVID (as we opened just before the start of the pandemic) and the ongoing demand and enquiries of our model are sure shot the biggest success of our business. And personally speaking, making a dream come true of putting every bits and pieces in place to build this up gives me the confidence and feel to do more every time.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The pandemic and survival through that time, I will just say the toughest and biggest learner as a business owner, both technically and financially. And in short, I will say giving the dream to shape a business is one part of the struggle, and maintaining it for growth is the biggest learning curve anytime.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make the basics and fundamentals very clear, you should be very clear why you want to do it.
  2. Once you are into it, never think much; just follow it passionately. There will be very, very challenging times to question your credibility, but never give up.
  3. Always figure out the sync of your product or service to the right time, right place, and right people. Success will follow you.
