Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jonathan Beaulne, Owner of Fitness à rabais, located in Laval, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business is to provide fitness equipment for schools, people, and condos at a great price and the best quality possible. We got used and brand new equipment.

Tell us about yourself

When I started my business 10 years ago, I was only sure of one thing: I wanted to build a business. I started as a repairman for fitness equipment. I got a lot of knowledge thru this experience and noticed that a lot of people didn't have the right equipment for their needs. So, I decided to sell equipment myself. By doing this, I would be able to help people to find the right equipment for their needs. My motivation is to see how we can grow a business with honesty and client service. I feel happy at the end of my day if I make my business healthier.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

When I opened my first store, I had absolutely no money and no distributors! My biggest accomplishment is that I managed to grow my store and even open a second one with practically no money. And I finally got the attention of the distributors and am now a distributor of great brands.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It's to find a loan. You have to grow big if you want banks to pay attention to you, but without money, you can't grow.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Work very hard. Every day.
  2. Find some money.
  3. Never stop believing.
