Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Karene Richards, founder and CEO of Fit Hidden Figure, located in Washington, DC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We offer health coaching and personal training services. We transform physiques in a matter of weeks. Readers should support our business because if you don’t make time for wellness, you will be forced to make time for illness.

Tell us about yourself

My mom died at 48 of breast cancer. She took care of all of us at the expense of self-care. She paid a huge price. The doctors found a lump in my breast ten years later, and that was my wake-up call.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping a man lose 60 lbs so that he can be considered as a kidney donor for his wife, who has stage 5 kidney disease.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

You always have to be performing at high levels to be successful.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Hire a reputable business coach.
  2. Stay consistent with performance. To do this, you must make health a priority.
  3. Focus on adding value to clients, and success will follow.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I spent 18 years in Investment Banking and was the former CEO of The Association For Women in Science.
