Organic Yemeni coffee and desserts. “Finjan” is a serving utensil for middle eastern coffee. This cafe features a fusion of Middle Eastern and Western coffee culture and comfort.

Tell us about yourself

I grew up in America knowing regular coffee, and then when I visited Yemen back in 2008, I was inspired by all the different coffee flavors and different ways of making it, and Yemen is known as the first country to grow and import coffee. I was motivated to help the farmers in Yemen and, at the same time, let the world have a different experience with coffee.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is supporting farmers in Yemen and having people here try a different experience with an American Yemeni coffee taste.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

My biggest challenges are when some people are scared to try a different thing that they don't know of. Also, importing coffee from a country that is in the middle of a war.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Work hard and don't wait for the right moment because it will come while you are working towards your goal.
  2. The road will be bumpy but don't give up.
  3. You will not score a goal unless you take the shot and keep trying.
