Tell us about yourself

Fifth Avenue Physiotherapy is the leading choice for physiotherapy in Calgary. We have been trusted in the Calgary community for over 30 years. Our loyalty has been built around our commitment to improving your movement and quality of life. We are focused on physiotherapy services that have been proven to work. We are skilled therapists that will empower you to reach your goals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have been the owner of Fifth Ave Physiotherapy for eight years. We have helped thousands of patients reach their movement goals, renovated our space, gone paperless (10 years of patients charts), offered direct billing, and added services like pelvic floor and GLAD back and hip and knee programs added to our team culture.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There are so many things to do in a small business. The key is to find the right people that share your vision and passion so you can delegate and see them succeed. COVID has hit us hard because we are a downtown clinic. We have had to pivot many times to firstly keep everyone safe and, secondly, keep our revenue up.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Firstly, really nail down your vision so you can succinctly communicate it to others.
  2. Find the right people who share your vision and passion.
  3. Operationalize every step of your business.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Having a great team culture is key. Know your core values so that when you hire, you can hire on values.
