What's your business, and who are your customers?
Concierge fertility nursing and consulting services for anyone looking for supplemental care while navigating their fertility workup or treatment. From basic education on your period and reproductive system to IVF, surrogacy, egg donation - and everything in between.
Tell us about yourself
I'm a fertility nurse - with a decade of experience and 6 years of pediatric nursing experience. One of my first fertility patients encouraged me to start my own business because of the excellent care, both clinical and emotional support; I provided her through her journey. My motivation is all the babies I've helped to bring to life so far!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Referrals are the best compliment, and I constantly get clients who have been sent to me by someone else who had a great experience. So that steady word-of-mouth growth is huge for me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I think dealing with negative outcomes and negative people - not my clients, but people on the outside who didn't necessarily like that I started this business because it "took away from" their work in the clinic.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Keep going. Don't let the frustration of logistics get to you. And patience. It takes a lot of time to build a personal business and brand. I've only just really taken off in the last year, and I've been around for 5 years.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
While there are a lot of fertility "coaches" out there, I do believe I'm truly unique in that I have a plethora of nursing education, clinical experience, and hands-on training. Just because you went through fertility treatment or something worked for you doesn't make you an expert to be giving out medical advice. I offer the medical supplement while also providing emotional support and a shoulder to cry on.
