What's your business, and who are your customers?
I believe that building a successful business should not come at the expense of one's personal enjoyment and satisfaction. As a result, I am dedicated to helping female entrepreneurs build more pleasure into their daily lives while simultaneously scaling their businesses.
Tell us about yourself
When I started my first business, I had a dozen-ish debt collectors calling me daily. I could not pay my bills. I was living on rice and beans, and I was scared that my lights might be turned off. I climbed out of that hole with my blood, sweat, and lots of energy. No matter how hard it is, you can do it.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have taken one business to the top 4% of small businesses in the country and started several other very profitable businesses. I have cohosted an event of 25,000 people for my business. I have two best-selling books, and a third I am getting ready to launch.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Remembering not to get lost in the challenging days!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- The highs and lows are natural. Pay attention to trends so you do not get swept away by the changing tides.
- Pleasure raises oxytocin, which changes the way your brain creates, solves problems, and deals with stress. Taking time daily to experience pleasure helps you not only create better but also to enjoy the ride more.
- Multitasking is your enemy. While this has been talked about as a good quality, it will slow you down as an entrepreneur. Work projects in blocks will help you to stay focused.
