What's your business, and who are your customers?
Feel Good Pilates is a bright and colorful NYC classical Pilates Studio located in the heart of Manhattan, just two blocks from Union Square. Our spacious 600-square-foot studio sits on the third floor of a historic landmark building. We specialize in Private, Duet, and Semi-Private sessions for clients with all levels of experience.
Tell us about yourself
After teaching Private Pilates for four years and working as an independent contractor for two of those years, the studio I was growing my practice out of announced it was closing. I saw a need for a studio like mine that would provide space for other talented individual instructors to grow their private practice and have a space to call home.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I opened the studio six months before the global pandemic forced NYC fitness facilities to close their doors, and now, three years later, I am going strong.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest is knowing that you are solely responsible for everything that happens in your business, both the success and the failures.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Know your numbers and have a "worse-case-scenario" exit strategy. If you can know what will happen if nothing goes right and you still want to move forward, then there is nothing that you won't be able to handle.
