What's your business, and who are your customers?
At FATCO, we specialize in making natural and organic personal care products using tallow (aka rendered beef fat) from grass-fed, pasture-raised, happy cows! Tallow is extremely nourishing and nutrient-dense and is healing for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. We also carry a full line of Cleansing Oils and Deodorants, thus offering products for everyone in your family!
Tell us about yourself
In 2012, I started researching and learning a lot about the topical benefits of tallow from grass-fed cows. Through the Weston A Price Foundation, I learned that tallow from grass-fed, pasture-raised animals is very high in vitamins A, D, K, and E, all of which are very important for skin health. Tallow is also incredibly nutrient dense and healing for skin conditions like Eczema, Psoriasis, Keratosis Pilaris, and Dermatitis.
After learning about the benefits, I started testing out this new and different ingredient in my own recipes and was blown away by the effectiveness of the products I was making! And I just knew that I needed to share this newfound knowledge, as well as these products, with the world!
Knowing that our products are making a huge impact on people's lives is what motivates me every single day! I get emails all the time from customers who are just so grateful for our products, and that gives me a fire in my belly that is indescribable!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being in business for eight years, 2 of which were during a global pandemic! And getting my brand into Target.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Finding balance. On top of running a home-based business, I am also a mom to a three-year-old little boy and wife to Tim, a full-time walnut farmer. We live on a 35-acre farm with 100 chickens and 3 dogs. Life is crazy! But I am so grateful that I get to do what I do!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
In the words of Nike, JUST DO IT! There's never going to be a "good time" to start a business... so, Just Start!
