Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Fabiola M. Miguel, a Hypnotist and Life Coach, based in Mississauga, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help people optimize their physical and emotional well-being. I opened my practice in 2004, and I help people achieve a healthier weight, reduce stress, and anxiety, overcome fears or phobias, boost confidence, motivation, optimism, and self-esteem, increase inner peace and emotional intelligence, and much more.

Tell us about yourself

I came across Hypnosis and Meditation back in the year 2001 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. I realized the mind-body connection could not be ignored and made a commitment to work on my well-being. It paid off, and I recovered. After this, I became passionate about wellness, became a vegetarian, and then a vegan in 2013. I love learning, reading, traveling, helping animals, and caring for the environment, as well as educating others about the power of the subconscious mind to develop healthy habits and thoughts. I love to contribute to my client's transformation, and it's a privilege and an honor to be part of their journey.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

It's hard to think of just one accomplishment, from helping someone with amnesia recover her memories to helping a child talk that was diagnosed with selective mutism; all these experiences continue to motivate me to keep on learning to find better and more effective ways to help someone.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Social Media is challenging since it requires a lot of time, and I would prefer to spend helping clients.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know yourself, and go through the process of working on yourself, too, to get rid of any self-limitations and false beliefs.
  2. Know what kinds of clients you want to work with.
  3. Take care of yourself first. Talk the talk and walk the walk if you want to help and inspire others. You can't help people quit smoking if you smoke yourself, for example.
