Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sharae Jenkins, founder of Fab + Fit Health Coaching, LLC., located in Seattle, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Nutritionist and Health Coach! I am passionate about helping millennial career women who struggle losing weight create effective and sustainable lifestyle changes so that they can finally ditch dieting and regain their confidence. I want to equip and empower these women with the tools they need to be successful in...long term. My Fab Academy Small Group Coaching takes a holistic approach to weight loss by focusing on three pillars: Nutrition, Movement, and Mindset. I am passionate about educating my clients so that they can build a strong foundation that helps them get the weight off and keep it off.

Tell us about yourself

I started my health coaching practice in February 2019 as a result of experiencing my own 60-pound weight loss and keeping the weight off since 2009. After losing weight, people would ask me for tips, and I would, of course, offer help. It was something that I found enjoyable because I wanted people to understand that you do not have to go to extremes to lose weight; it just takes being consistent. Understanding that there are so many factors that influence what and why we eat, I started learning more about nutrition. Then I discovered that being a Health Coach and having my own practice was something that I could do! Health Coaching allows me to connect with women daily who might need encouragement and guidance. Even if someone doesn't decide to enroll in my program, I still want them to see me as someone who is knowledgeable and compassionate.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is overcoming my fear of failure. I would see other health coaches online and compare my success to theirs. But what I failed to realize was that what they posted was just a snapshot in time. I didn't know their full story and what it took for them to achieve certain milestones. So I decided to focus on my race and running my race well!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things for me is ensuring that I am practicing self-care and not sacrificing my own health. I have to remember to give myself the same grace and compassion that I tell my clients to give to themselves.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Done is better than perfect. It's OK not to have everything together. You can learn and grow along the way.
  2. Be open to change. Have a plan, but be willing to change the course if need be.
  3. Have fun in your business! Network and meet new people.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I would simply say this: If you can't stop thinking about it, then don't stop working for it! Your goals and passions and not random. Pursue them!
