What's your business, and who are your customers?

Extraordinary People LLC is my business. I work with owners and executives committed to maximizing their organizational results along with their personal joy and satisfaction.

Tell us about yourself

At age 27, I attended an early Human Potential Movement seminar, and it changed my life for the better. I continue to be inspired to contribute similar transformational experiences to executives and their teams.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've founded and led three high-impact experiential learning companies with over 1.3 million graduates from our programs.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I teach this and have both successfully and not successfully "lived it"... Owners must create and maintain focus, alignment, and commitment personally and for their organization; without that, their very survival is threatened.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Choose partners and/or early team members carefully with special attention to matching values.
  2. Get into action quickly. Create "something" and attempt to sell it. That's where you discover what works and doesn't work about your idea.
  3. Determine the fastest route to positive cash flow and take it.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Leadership is, by its very nature, a sometimes lonely role. Get a coach, a mentor, an advisory council ... reach out. You are not alone unless you choose to be.
