Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dasha Maslennikova, Symmetrix Exercise & Rehab co-owner based in Vancouver, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We help injured, and non-active folks get back to the activities they love to do through exercise rehabilitation. We help them lessen their physical pain and get stronger.

Tell us about yourself

I was in a car accident that changed my life. I was in tons of pain, couldn't do any of my sports, was crying in bed for a week. Through exercise rehabilitation, step by step, I got my life back. It took three years to get mobile again. During that time, I had a hard time finding exemplary practitioners that could help me. I wanted to create a company and clinicians with excellent methods to identify problem areas, work on them, and resolve them. Help clients identify, what are the most effective exercises or movements that they need to work on.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In 3.5 years, the business has grown in revenue every year by 35%. We have ~95-100 reviews on google five stars! We have excellent client retention.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The uncertainty if there will be work and money coming in tomorrow, next week, next month. The pandemic was challenging (challenging for everyone).

What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Find excellent other professionals/coaches/mentors that can help you (Accountant, graphic designer, lawyer, etc.). Work from the heart to solve a problem; people will see that and join the journey. Find ways to celebrate the wins.
