Tell us about yourself
I was fortunate to find my passion -- the Human Resources and Leadership profession -- very early in my career. Forty years later, I am still motivated by helping people and organizations be more effective.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Building a business from scratch over the past 12 years (including starting it during a recession) following a 28-year corporate career.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Business strategy is about winning in the marketplace and making choices between things you will do and will not do. Nowhere is this more true than in owning your own business. The only things you have of value to provide customers are your experience, advice, and time. Every day is a tradeoff of who you will work with, what actions you will take, and how you will spend your time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know what you are passionate about and use it as fuel to overcome obstacles.
- Don't make promises you can't keep.
- Surround yourself with people you can learn from and who are better than you.
