Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Erica Walton, Owner of Evolving Diva Inc., located in Chicago, IL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I’m an author, coach, and mentor. From my books, I’ve created events, retreats, and coaching programs for women all over the world. I carry affirmation decks, apparel, and accessories based on my books.
Tell us about yourself
When I first started my business, I coached girls ages 7-17 on self-care and wellness while becoming young women. I was inspired by my own childhood as well as my multiple daughters. I’m a mother of ten girls and three boys. I’m such a bonus mom for one son and the grandmother of one.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I would say my biggest accomplishments would be writing thirteen books, servicing hundreds of women, and traveling aboard to host a retreat. Also, becoming a doula after my own birth traumas.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
When I first started, I didn’t receive a lot of family support. I’ve had to learn that who I start with isn’t always who I end with.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Practice self-care. Taking care of yourself is key to pouring into a full-time business. Take breaks when needed, but don’t quit. Lastly, invest in your brand!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I’m honored to be the wife of a loving, supportive husband that pours into me as well.
