What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help blame and shame dog owners who are frustrated and confused by their dog's aggressive behavior to understand and appreciate who their dog is at their core level so they can live in harmony and feel confident.
Tell us about yourself
After working for ten years at a local shelter and being laid off, I knew I would never work for someone else again. I opened Everything Dog right away. Initially, I offered in-home boarding for my clients, but as other parts of my business took off, I faded out of boarding dogs. We offer private dog training through coaching packages and limited Day Training where we train the client's dog in their home for them.
Currently, I'm shifting from all 1:1 clients to online. We have a signature online course called: Revealing Your Dream Dog, Ditch the Aggression Not the Dog, and have students from all over the country, including Canada.
What motivates me? My big Why is to end the suffering of owners with aggressive dogs and to end the suffering of these dogs. Dogs with aggression issues are subject to some of the worst things, all in the name of "training."
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being able to step back, assess where we are and where we want to go and make the necessary adjustments and investments. I regularly look at the data to understand what is working and where we need guidance. Maybe that is more than one!?
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Believing in myself every single day. Not listening to the negative nancy, especially when it comes to dreams, goals, and growth. There are plenty of people in the world who will be happy to tell you you are crazy or your dreams are impossible.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your market research.
- Stay in "your lane," play to YOUR strengths and hire out the rest.
- Have goals and a plan for how you are getting there.
