Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in clothing and accessories but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rainee Signor, Founder of Evergreen Adventures, located in Clallam Bay, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I sell stickers and gift items with a unique abstract style. All of our products are based in beautiful Washington Locations. With my products, I hope to remind people of awesome adventures and inspire new ones. If you love Washington and love to explore, you'll fit right into the community I am building.

Tell us about yourself

Growing up, I was always crafting, painting, and pretty much any kind of art you can name; at the same time, I was out hiking and exploring. I've visited several states, but I still think Washington and the PNW are the prettiest. Although I always wanted to use my creativity in my job, I never saw a way to do it. Until I stumbled into the world of graphic design, which was actually my first business. I focused on my graphic design business for a year, and although it was closer, it still felt off. I am very thankful for that path because not only are all of the skills I learned useful to any business owner, but they also gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed to start Evergreen Adventures. God created a beautiful planet. I love that I get to explore it myself and share it with others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

What feels like the biggest accomplishment for me is just spotting my products out in the wild. Like my friends sending me a random person's bumper sticker, and it's one of mine or seeing someone in one of my hoodies that I've never met. Knowing that people like and actually use what I create is an awesome feeling.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Trying to wear too many hats. Knowing you have an awesome business idea, then trying to do all of the business parts can be hard. Starting with graphic design has helped me tremendously because that also dabbles into marketing, so I somewhat know what I am doing there. But there's also accounting and so many other things. You really can't stop learning, which I like but can definitely be overwhelming.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't underestimate the community. Having people you can ask about your products, about the business side of things, or even just to get some encouragement can make a difference.
  2. Don't forget why you started. If you start to get overwhelmed by all of the things you have to do and the choices you have to make. Take a minute to remember why you started and what you enjoy.
  3. Don't just copy the competition. Don't always follow the trends; people are more likely to pay attention to you if you don't look like every other account. Try to find what you enjoy and what makes your business different.
