Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Julian Gonzalez-Becerra, Partner at Ethr Coaching, located in Venice, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a transformational coach, community builder, and facilitator. I work with high-performers who desire a deeper sense of fulfillment and connection to their life's purpose and want to do it whilst cultivating a felt sense of equanimity in both their personal and professional lives.
I am also a founding partner at Ethr, a coaching company and community that serves entrepreneurs, innovators, and coaches. Our mission is to support our clients to live to their highest potential and have an exponential impact on their organizations and communities.
Tell us about yourself
From a young age, I've always been curious about what makes people do what they do (many times to the detriment of themselves and loved ones) and driven by an inner fire to be better than I was yesterday. My journey in cultivating leadership began over 11 years ago when I was a strength & conditioning coach working with CrossFit athletes. While also competing in the sport of fitness myself, I became obsessed with learning as much as I could about the lifestyle and mindset of high-performing athletes and how it translated to dominating on and off the competition floor. Subsequently, I became increasingly enlightened about the mental and emotional dimensions of high performance the deeper I dove into expressing my physical potential.
After my competitive career ended in 2017, I took a sabbatical, diving headfirst into transformational experiences, Hatha Yoga, and working with various indigenous medicines and spiritual guides. Along that path, I began working with (and learning from) entrepreneurs in the tech world who are mission-aligned in creating new systems in business and finance to serve the greater good of the planet and humanity for generations to come. It was during this transition that I began to see how the cultivation of a growth-oriented mindset was a transferrable skill that serves innovators in unlocking their full potential as well as expanding their capacity for conscious leadership.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My clients are what I am most proud of in my career. The fact that I get to work with inspiring individuals who want to make play full out and leave their world better than how they found it is something that both inspires and humbles me every day.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
It's one thing to dream big; it's another thing to be prepared for it when it becomes a reality. The most challenging aspect of being an entrepreneur is being able to grow and adapt to what is required of me at each junction of growth.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get as clear as you can on what you want your ideal life to look like and put your best effort forward every day.
- Challenge yourself by investing in yourself.
- Be present for the journey.
