What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Ethical Digital, we are changing the trajectory of the internet. We work with the innovation industries on inclusive digital marketing, research, training, and certification to make the internet (and everyone who creates for it) more inclusive.
Tell us about yourself
I was a co-founder of a tech company and often found myself the only woman at tech events. As my career evolved, I realized that if technology is the future, we need all people involved in creating that future.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We've been certified as a BCorp and a WBE-certified company. These were both challenging honours to receive. We also have a very strong culture at our company, even though it is virtual.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
There are so many opportunities sometimes, it takes discipline to stay focused and do your current activities well.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find great mentors.
- You can't change the world if you are broke, focus on strong revenue.
- Find a community of others who are building businesses. Most other people won't understand the depth of the experience, and there is so much to learn informally from others.
