Restore Your Mind-Body Connection - Eternal Origins

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jade Mesquita, Founder of Eternal Origins, located in Tampa, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have a holistic nutrition and herbal practice where I help people, mainly women, identify the root cause of their internal imbalance rather than simply treating symptoms. Gut health is my focus, but I have helped women in their healing journey from a whole range of concerns such as hormonal imbalances, chronic illness, inflammation, metabolic syndrome, acne, weight loss, and so forth.

My services are holistically based, meaning they attend to the mind, body, and soul. The modalities I use are nutrition-based, herbal, and lifestyle practices. I optimize results using functional labs in my practice to take the guesswork out of challenging health concerns.

Tell us about yourself

I’m a Board Certified Holistic Nutrition Practitioner, Clinical Herbalist, & Health Coach passionate about helping others feel their best through proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits.

I fell victim to various diet trends and unbalanced habits during my teenage years. I ended up suffering from severe gut and hormonal problems. I would be dismissed by doctors and felt hopeless for a long time. It wasn't until I analyzed what wellness is about and what it really means to be healthy. I did a lot of research to heal from my chronic bloating, GI issues, and painful periods. I felt so empowered from healing naturally that I went to school to study nutrition so I would be able to help other women in the same position as I was.

I am a multi-passionate woman, but I am most passionate about three things: restoring our health holistically, education on nutrient-dense foods, and attuning to our intuition. I help women meet their goals and ditch their diets, to transition from a life of obsessiveness to a life of mindfulness, and fall in love with the process along the way. It is small changes in day-to-day life that ultimately leads to living the most vibrant, authentic life. This is what motivates me every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

This may be cheesy, but my biggest accomplishments are all the people that I have helped. When I receive positive messages and testimonials, it makes my heart full. I feel such a sense of fulfillment in my work that I find that to be an accomplishment. Seeing the transformation these women go through is very inspiring and motivating; they are able to acquire the right tools for them and typically symptom-free.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Entrepreneurship has been the most challenging yet rewarding experience I have ever faced. My biggest challenge is learning that my business is outside of me. When times get tough, my life feels heavy, and my business isn't booming as I would want it to, it becomes easy to take the journey of my business personally. Essentially, it feels like we are attached, and I must constantly remind myself that my personal and business journeys are separate.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient. In this world, we are looking for instant gratification, and growing a business is the complete opposite of that. It takes a lot of ups and downs but be patient with the process. Success doesn't happen overnight.
  2. Keep moving. Take small actionable steps even when it feels hard. There will be moments where you feel stagnant or unmotivated or even receive bad news but just keep moving.
  3. Surround yourself with other successful business owners. Ask questions, find mentors, and keep learning.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

When starting a business, make sure it is something you love to do and embodies your purpose and passion. I strongly believe that as a culture, we need to shift into helping others and the planet in order to have a positive impact on the world. When you put yourself in a place where you are of service to your communities and nature, that is when you will feel fulfilled and happy. We have enough greed on our planet that I believe everyone should utilize their skills for good.
