Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Clinton Johnson, Owner of Eternal Health Services, located in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I run a therapy business centered around hypnotherapy, meditation, and metaphysical coaching/counseling. I primarily help people with anxiety, depression, and addictions or facilitate personal/spiritual growth. I work typically work with people from 20-60 years old, with a 60/40 split of females to males as my clients.

Tell us about yourself

My business is my spiritual mission; I was guided to start it up. The preliminary stages of this were to work on myself and heal myself of my crippling depression, which had me in a perpetual suicidal state. I became obsessed with meditation and metaphysics, worked with a mentor, and became free. After a few years of healing myself with amazing success, I began an apprenticeship training under my mentor, learning how to become a clinical hypnotherapist. I still enjoy meditating a few hours per day, as the more I learn, the better I am able to help people. My career now supports my family; this is my main daily motivation, along with fulfilling my spiritual purpose.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Out of the thousands of clients I have seen, a handful devoted themselves to what they learned and have made such amazing progress that it truly astounds me and fills me with joy. To help facilitate such a transformation in someone is beyond words. It is also a giant accomplishment of mine that I trained an apprentice to become an expert, and she started her own hypnotherapy business.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

There really are so many people that need my help; there are very few people on Earth that can do what I do. Some days it feels difficult to take time off for family or rest when I know I could be working more. It is also difficult at times to focus on providing your best service when you are always having to put energy into attracting new clients.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find your true passion and believe in it.
  2. Turn that passion into service, and get REALLY good at this service. Become world-class.
  3. If you've done both of those steps, then take a risk, jump in, and bet on yourself. If you are not yet amazing at what you do, go back to training and wait until you are ready.
