Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Erin Mixon, Founder of Imparted Wisdom Blog, located in Hialeah, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have a self-improvement blog that deals with various subject matters ranging from mental health, relationships, spirituality, and self-love.

Tell us about yourself

I love people, and I love helping people. I always have had it since childhood. I've always loved to write also. In my 20's my sister introduced me to the self-help genre with Iyanla Vanzant's in the Meantime. I fell in love with Iyanla and the book. Then I fell in love with self-help and consumed so many self-help books as I began to work on myself. So my blog was a natural extension of all of these things coming together and my wanting to give back and share the knowledge I've learned over the years.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment would be the lives that have been enhanced and helped by my blog. Helping people is why I do it.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Money is not always consistent, so trying to manage the financial part is not always easy.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Research, research, research, and then research some more. Talk and network with other business owners.
  2. Be patient. Things won't take off overnight. Give it time to come together.
  3. The financial part won't necessarily come together right away, but if it's something you really love, there are other more personal rewards. The finances will eventually come.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Keep the faith and be consistent. It will eventually pay off.
