What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a dance studio co-owner with my sister, Gina. Planet Dance welcomes all ages, who love the art of dance and are eager to learn. We pride ourselves on being a family-oriented studio. Our studio families will agree, it's what sets us apart from many other studios. Your child is not just a name, they become our kids too.
Tell us about yourself
I started dancing at the age of 3. It was love at first sight. After years of dancing, my sister and I decided to open up a dance studio of our own. Who better to own a business and do what you love, than with your sister who is also your best friend. We are truly motivated by our students, their dedication and hard work. They are what make us love what we do. They push u to be better choreographers and mentors. It is an amazing feeling when they vocalize the impact we have on them.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I would have to say our biggest accomplishment as business owners, is hitting our 20-year anniversary. Also, the student's appreciation and love they have for us as teachers. It truly is heartwarming to know how much they love to dance and appreciate us as teachers. It makes every second worth it.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I think the hardest thing that comes along with being a business owner is when our students get older and move on to college or work etc. We grow so attached to our kids (yes, they are considered our kids) that it's bittersweet when they leave. It's a great feeling to know the impact we left on them, but sad to see them leave.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Love what you do and know you will be doing it for the long hall.
- It will come with ups, downs, struggles, and accomplishments.
- Build great relationships with your clients.
