Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alejandro Chavarria, Co-Founder of Epsilon Venture Group, located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The company I co-founded, Epsilon Venture Group, is a venture consultancy. We work with founders and directors to develop, build, and scale new ventures or marketing initiatives. We put our focus on development and scale, working with a small cohort of clients intimately for long periods of time to facilitate growth and success.

This typically looks like a dedicated contact (like myself) working alongside you (the client) nearly every day on business strategy, managing needs, and delegating with our internal team to accomplish tasks. Conversely, we can also help build in-house teams.

Tell us about yourself

I have spent the last five years creating and developing ideas and pursuing them professionally, whether it is arts organizations I have created and maintained, the experiences I have curated and created for large brands, or even the photography and creative work I have done and pursued as a career, or the consulting work I've had the honor of working on. I have a large knowledge base and have had a lot of opportunities to pursue and learn different systems and processes.

My mission is to make customers feel acknowledged. Customers, startups, and established businesses are disconnected from their customers a lot of the time. They don't have a community around their product or service. I build communities around products or services for you.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Independence is a strong value of mine and my biggest accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Time management, people skills, and realizing that not only do you have to develop your product or service, so it's better received in the market, but you'll also have to develop many more skills as a start-up founder than you weren't aware of before stepping into this role.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Iterate on customer feedback, don't ask if they like what you're doing; ask what they don't like. That's where you'll find your value.
  2. You aren't good at everything!! Find people who are better than you and aren't afraid to tell you that you're wrong.
  3. You don't need a lot of money to start... With the internet, you can start a business for as little as $0. If you start making money, then invest! And call us to assist you in your journey ;)
