What's your business, and who are your customers?
I founded Savvy New Canadians, a leading personal finance website that helps Canadians be in control of their money, get out of debt, invest wisely, increase their income, and become financially free. The platform attracts 400,000 to 500,000 visitors every month.
Tell us about yourself
I am a veterinarian who immigrated to Canada in 2011. Originally from Nigeria, I have been an entrepreneur for a while and have established various businesses over the years. As a newcomer to Canada, I saw a significant gap in the financial information available to new immigrants. Since it was challenging for me to find my way around the Canadian financial landscape, I decided to create a go-to resource that made it easier and faster for other newcomers to find their footing financially.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Starting the Savvy New Canadians platform from the ground up and building it into what it is today. We have been able to impact many lives over the years and are just getting started.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Finding the motivation to keep going when things get tough.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be prepared to face challenges early on.
- Set targets and milestones so you can stay motivated as you accomplish them.
- Dig in for the long haul and learn from your mistakes along the way. Enjoy the journey as much as you can.
