Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Emily Russell, Founder of Energy Shopping LLC., located in Chattanooga, TN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an Energy and Mindset Coach and Certified Facilitator of Access Consciousness. I have my Master of Arts in Teaching Yoga Teacher Certification and am a former High School Biology Teacher. My clients are people desiring to create a life they love, and my target is to empower them with the tools to actualize that in their own unique way.

Tell us about yourself

I know what it's like to walk away from the safe path and leap into the unknown. And to make risky choices that don't make sense on paper and trust that the Universe is going to catch you. Before I started using the tools of Access Consciousness and Energy Shopping, I was a burned-out ex-teacher, a stressed mom of little kids, unhappily married, and ready for a career change - with zero ideas of how I was going to pull it off. Now I'm happily divorced, have a six-figure business with a growing team, and ride this crazy life rollercoaster with more ease than I could have imagined possible. My target for my business and my clients is to empower them with tools to transform their lives and to find the beauty and ease of creation with it that is possible for everyone. Living day to day can actually be fun, no matter what is going on around you. We all live on this planet, have families (young or old), and deal with everyday stressors, but that doesn't have to mean that you suffer or feel stuck.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I went from being a stay-at-home Mom who knew she wanted a career change but had no plan on how to do it to creating a life and business that made my dreams a reality. I had a team of 10+ people, a thriving "work from anywhere" business, and the flexible life I'd always dreamed of. Then, I recently decided to shut it all down and start over. Where am I today? I took a couple of months to completely rethink how I create and what I can offer the world. I desired to create the most potent but accessible programs and offerings possible to empower people at every stage of their journey, from total newbies to seasoned consciousness adventurers. My team is now five people, with everyone contributing to our new targets and being energetically congruent with that creation. We are having way more fun and have given up having to get it 'right' and instead receiving more than we ever thought possible.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Creating a business and my schedule in a way that works for me. My ask is to never get bored, to have things be different every day, and to have the freedom to accommodate myself and my family's schedule so that I can spend as much time with my two young girls as I'd like, and to be able to provide for my girl's celebration and enjoyment of living in any way that works for us. It's easy to spend my day on my laptop or taking phone calls at night, and I have to choose what my priorities are. That includes everything and being aware of who and what requires my attention and when, and then moving in that direction.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start. Don't try to plan out everything ahead of time. Ask - 'what one choice could I make today that would actualize the future and business I am asking for?'.
  2. Don't give up on what you know is possible. You are here to bring something unique to the world. If you don't explore and embrace that difference, there is no one else that will bring that possibility to the world. Just leap and go for it. Trust what you know and trust that you will be supported down that path.
  3. Don't make judgment relevant. There will always be people who don't like what you do or think things aren't possible. Surround yourself with people who are inspired by your choosing greater and keep going. There will always be people who are grateful for what you do, what you are, and what you are creating. Don't let the naysayers stop you.
