What's your business, and who are your customers?
Endless Surf Camp is a surf school located on mission beach in San Diego, CA. We specialize in summer surf camps for local and visiting families. We are a small surf school that focuses on the individual. We want to build each student's surfing knowledge and confidence during every lesson.
Our surf lessons and surf camps are purposely kept small so that we can provide more personalized surf instruction. We also teach ocean awareness and safety during every lesson. Our instructors are hand-picked to ensure they know how to teach and work well with children and adults.
Tell us about yourself
I am a San Diego school teacher and have taught PE to elementary children in San Diego since 2002. I am also the high school surf team head coach and have been a surfer for over 20 years. In 2013, my husband Derrick and I established Endless Summer Surf Academy, and in 2014 they were awarded a San Diego City permit to teach surf lessons.
From 2014 to 2020, Endless Summer Surf Academy operated in Mission Beach with great success. In 2021, we changed our name to Endless Surf Camp. I am passionate about surfing and sharing that passion with others.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Owning and operating my company while having a full-time teaching job has been a big accomplishment for me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
You are working 24/7. You must love your work, or it's just not worth it.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure it's something you're passionate about.
- Don't pay yourself until you are profitable.
- Hire people you can trust.
