What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own a holistic center where we provide acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, massage, reiki, hypnotherapy, yoga, and therapy by a psychologist. Our customers range between the ages of 2-100, who are seeking natural ways to stay healthy or treat their health problems.
Tell us about yourself
I have always been interested in folk remedies, but only after traveling in China did I realize that Chinese medicine has everything I was interested in - oriental philosophy, mythology, and natural cures. For a detailed story, check my new site, where I now sell my product for mind and body.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As a business owner, I feel that my biggest accomplishment is seeking out and putting together a group of excellent and like-minded practitioners. And to create an atmosphere where patients feel relaxed, heard, taken care of, and happy to come back, and the practitioners feel like they own the place rather than work for someone.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Having to wear two hats. Being a practitioner myself, working full time and running the center is very challenging. All my practitioners are highly paid, and it doesn't leave enough to have a full-time manager.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Love what you do, because you will not stop working at 5-6 pm.
- Be organized from day one.
- Learn to delegate, don't try and do it all by yourself.
