Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Trisha Daho, Founder and CEO of Empowered Leadership Cultivation, located in Chicago, IL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a consultancy for people/culture/DEI strategy for professional service firms. We also do strategic coaching for minority leaders and business owners.

Tell us about yourself

I started out going to law school, but went straight into a big four global accounting firm and made partner there in 9 years. I was heavily involved in culture building, leadership development, and diversity-equity-inclusion initiatives there, so it occurred to me that I just might have a greater impact as a third party to firms than as a partner in my own firm. We are obsessed with helping people and firms reach their fullest potential. That is what drives us.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having a positive impact. Helping firms understand the best way to be best for their own employees, remove barriers, and be supportive of each person meaningfully.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There is no day off. :D We love our work, but we are always on.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Stay the course. Develop a process and walk that process every day. Hone in on why you're so important to solving a problem and articulate very clearly to exactly the right people. Remain whole and authentic.
