Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Emily Wilcox, CEO of Emily Wilcox Coaching, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I work with 6 and 7-figure women entrepreneurs to heal their money wounds, scale their businesses to $100k months, and joyously build their fempires.

Tell us about yourself

I built two 7-figure businesses (an e-commerce brand and a marketing agency) in the hustle and grind energy. After hitting my first $100k cash month, I was shocked to learn that I didn't feel as successful as I thought I would feel, my business didn't feel as stable as I thought it would, and now I had a new anxiety of "how will I do this again?" This was my invitation to go inward and look at why I was trying to source my safety and my worthiness from something outside of myself.

In the years that followed, I diagnosed and healed my money wounds, created a methodology from my process, launched a multi-6-figure coaching business, and helped over 100 entrepreneurs heal their money wounds to welcome more wealth.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In 2022, I had 302 transactions from clients in 16 different countries. That blows me away. I never set out to build a global brand — but I did want to help as many women as I could to heal their money wounds and build conscious wealth. To me, those numbers are such an exciting indicator that it's working!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Entrepreneurship will trigger every unhealed childhood trauma, every feeling of unworthiness, and every part of you that wants to stay small, quiet, and compliant. The hardest thing is coming to terms with the fact that it's all connected, and as much as you might want to operate business in a vacuum, you'll be invited into the inner work time and time again.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Hire a coach. Of course, we're all high-achieving go-getters who could go it alone, but why? It's more fun, and the business will grow faster with a coach by your side or a cohort of mastermind colleagues that are in your corner.
  2. Let your feelings be your guidance system. Are you having fun? Are you moving toward feelings of freedom or satisfaction, or gratitude daily? If you're not enjoying the journey, it's unlikely that the destination will magically be fabulous.
  3. Talk about money. Heal your money wounds. Understand your profitability. Get a great money dream team on your side.
