Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lisa Charles, CEO of Embrace Your Fitness, LLC, located in Maplewood, NJ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am CEO of Embrace Your Fitness -- a Health Coach -- a Brain-Body-Belief Alignment Specialist, and the creator of the "Breathe to Bust Stress and Build Energy" I help men and women live an Age-Defying Life so they can release stress, renew their energy, restore sleep, and gain the mental clarity they need to live the life of their dreams.

Tell us about yourself

I am a federal prosecutor turned singer/actress, wellness expert, certified health coach/consultant, and professional speaker. I served as the Fitness/Wellness Research Coordinator for the Rutgers University Aging & Brain Health Alliance and am the Author of YES! COMMIT. DO. LIVE. After I struggled with temporary vocal loss, I turned it into personal growth by shedding 77 pounds without dieting. That ignited my zeal for fitness, cemented my understanding of the brain-body connection, and led me to create a life based on passion.

Today, I empower individuals to let go of their limiting beliefs, embrace who they truly are, and break through any age-limiting barriers by allowing them to experience wellness from their top/down, inside/out approach. It's a Wellness Revolution.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As the fitness/wellness research coordinator at Rutgers University during the pandemic's beginning, I was tasked with overseeing fitness classes and wellness workshops for about 100 seniors. What had been an in-person scientific study was transformed overnight into remote classes overseen by my business. It was a momentous responsibility, and I was committed to assuring every member of my group remained healthy. During the six months of that program, not only did my members remain healthy, they lost weight, reduced A1C numbers, learned how to sleep more hours and how to breathe for better long-term health.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a business owner, the hardest thing is to make sure you take time to nurture your biggest dreams and aspirations, surrounding yourself with individuals that inspire and uplift your talents. Bask in Masterminds and keep your drive and focus as you reach your highest level of excellence.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
