Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kevin Andersen, Managing Partner at Ember & Oak, located in Melbourne, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We’re a new interpretation of what a fine dining steakhouse is and should be.

Tell us about yourself

I love to cook, and I love beef. What gets me up and excited every morning is creating a conversation with our diners about what eating beef looks like, from all the different cuts and parts of the cow to the different breeds, feed choices, and aging techniques. It’s far more interesting, exciting, and delicious than just ordering a prime filet at your local white tablecloth steakhouse.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Still existing after starting grossly underfunded and less than one year before the start of the COVID pandemic.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Work-Life Balance and stress management.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Don’t open a restaurant….j/k. Don’t give up. If you’re in a service-based industry, don’t ignore the reviews, but don’t let them deter your vision. And Don’t give up!!!! That needs to be repeated because you’ll want to.
