Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Elodie Farrugia, Founder, and CEO of Wonder'Preneure, located in Cannes, PACA, France.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the founder and CEO of Wonder'Preneure, a digital agency dedicated to providing smart services to Notion users. We build simple yet powerful solutions for ambitious, fast-growing, or growing (future) CEOs looking to run their business with a solid operational structure on Notion. We design and conceptualize ingeniously 100% bespoke Notion systems that resonate with each company's unique personality. Our digital ecosystems help companies structure and manage processes, systems, workflows, and general operations in a centralized, automated, and efficient way.

Tell us about yourself

I have been a multi-passionate and self-taught entrepreneur since 2009, but I have actually always been a serial entrepreneur. When as a child, I was asked what I wanted to do as an adult, my answer was a business manager. I think I must have created my "first business" with a friend as an associate at the age of 10, offering car wash services. Thanks to my various companies, I took marketing more seriously, and I trained with great Canadian and American mentors in all digital strategies until giving rise to Wonder'Preneure in 2019, which is a digital agency and center that has helped hundreds of women entrepreneurs in their digital strategy, branding, and marketing. To manage the growth of my business, I focused on finding a perfect tool that would allow me to centralize and automate a large part of my operations and my workflow. And then I found my ultimate crush, and Notion entered my life! I immediately fell in love with this tool, and in each of my projects, I invested 100% in mastering it. It is, therefore, logical that Wonder'Preneure has become a digital agency dedicated to offering smart services to Notion users. These days, I get up every morning to help companies in the development of structures, processes, systems, and workflows thanks to the creation of Notion systems. Slightly a geek and workaholic, I developed my business by managing it the same way I would approach a video game, with passion and a lot of fun.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest challenge and my greatest pride came at the start of 2022. After long months (and nights) working on Notion to provide the best, I officially obtained the Notion Consultant Certification. The Notion Certified program allows experienced Notion users to validate their skills. The quality of my work was validated by the official Notion team; I was evaluated on my theoretical and technical knowledge, then I took a very intense practical exam in the form of a case study! It's a little bit like my World Cup to me. My work, my perseverance, and my passion have allowed me to be one of the 50 certified Notion consultants in the world, of which only five are in France.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Managing a business, like starting a new video game, is not an easy task… There are many constraints and many factors that will play to determine whether or not we will be successful. One of my biggest struggles as a business owner and mom of 3 is embracing the reality of my life and not letting myself go to work 24/7 in my business. My mind is very quickly busy running all facets of my business, day and night. I am now accompanied by an office manager, but running a growing business, we have to wear different hats and juggle all the other responsibilities of owning a business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't be afraid to succeed! This is the fear that affects most entrepreneurs because, actually, many others hide in this fear (fear of the unknown, fear of change, fear of the opinion of others, fear of failure, etc.).
  2. Anticipate your development by adapting your operational organization to the growth that awaits it. If you want a fast-growing business, you have to be ready to welcome success and accomplishment, don't wait to be backed into a corner.
  3. Sharpen your skills, sharpen and develop your knowledge. Keep watching, training yourself, and testing new features. You should never rest on your laurels and constantly seek to acquire and improve your skills.
