Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Natalya Fateyeva, Owner of ELNA Therapy, located in Davie, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a doctor in Behavioral Health and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in couples, individual, and family therapy. I've owned and maintained a private practice in Davie, FL, for 15+ years and also offer telehealth sessions. I'm licensed both in Florida and New York State and have also been a professor for most of my professional life. I own and maintain social media pages on Instagram and Facebook, where I offer free guidance and relatable reels for anyone looking to heal/help themselves.

Tell us about yourself

Growing up as the youngest of three, I was very often exposed to the complex inner workings of a large family. I had to learn to develop patience and the ability to listen to others at a very early age, which only intensified as I grew older. As a college professor, my students would always lean on me when they were experiencing hardships in their personal lives. This is what led me to therapy, as I felt like I could make a bigger impact in the world as a therapist.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

This is a tricky one to answer, but I think I would have to go with the satisfaction that comes with being able to help people feel less alone in this world. This, to me, is more of a personal accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is consistently having a steady flow of clients. Some months are easier than others when it comes to making ends meet, and our team is constantly trying to come up with effective marketing strategies to ensure a steady influx of new business and maintenance of the existing business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't be afraid to try new things.
  2. Don't underestimate the power of social media.
  3. Be consistent with your efforts, especially when you are feeling discouraged.
