Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jason Brown, CEO and Principal Owner of Elixir Muscle Recovery, located in Little Elm, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Elixir Muscle Recovery is a Youth Sports Recovery Center that helps combat the overwhelming injuries seen today due to the year-round sports that kids participate in. Elixir was founded on effective protocols that help to reduce inflammation in youth athletes along with helping them to increase performance. Elixir focuses on families with kids that play not only club and travel sports but also school sports.

We are designed to help young athletes get the targeted recovery for their bodies that comes with overuse and repetitive motion that comes with playing year-round sports throughout the year. Our therapy protocols only take 20 minutes, and it is a flat membership that gives the family unlimited use of our facilities.

Tell us about yourself

I'm an entrepreneur at heart. I first developed and franchised my own pain therapy clinic back in 2016. I look for systems to help fix issues that the current healthcare system is not addressing and provide a solution that fills that gap and gives people options. Having two children of my own that play sports, I saw the overwhelming volume kids today have to play to keep up in sports and be competitive. Unfortunately, the one thing these organizations were missing was body recovery for their athletes.

Even though most professional organizations have these types of services to help keep their athletes healthy, youth athletes have no option to get the recovery their body needs to reduce the risk of injuries. This is where I saw a need to help all kids, no matter what their level of play and stay healthy to avoid that career-ending injury.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is being able to take a business and franchise it to others and see them become successful from my idea. Sharing the same passion with other business owners helps to create a company that becomes successful by working together.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is the time spent to get the business off the ground and successful. Dedication, focus, and self-motivation are something many entrepreneurs struggle with, but I think there is a deeper root of passion that keeps many of us moving forward and not giving up.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a passion for what you are doing. It may be your only motivation some days to keep moving forward.
  2. Make time for family and friends. Balance is the key to success.
  3. Don't give up. God did not give you a passionate idea for it to fail, know that in your heart.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Everything is hard in life; succeeding and failing, choose the right path of difficulty.
