Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Nona Djavid, Founder of eLIVate Club, located in Newport Beach, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I created the eLIVate Club after I experienced a massive shift in my own life when I lowered my tolerance for crappy situations and raised my standards for myself and those who had access to me. I create weekly courses designed to improve your health, wealth, and connections. It's part life coaching, part business strategist, and completely trusted friend who gives step-by-step tips on how to do better because you are made for more.

What sets the eLIVate Club apart from other experiences is the community of high-level entrepreneurs that members have access to for networking, shared experiences, and advice. It's like a Rolodex of the most creative, inspired, successful professionals at your fingertips. But our community is so much more than an online platform. My team and I create eLIVate Retreats for members and other interested professionals to focus on personal and professional growth through inclusive workshops and unique experiences.

Tell us about yourself

I started my professional career as a chiropractor in the Bay Area. That 8-month experience taught me everything not to do as a practitioner. After I opened my own office, I discovered that countless practices are being managed the same way - one-size-fits-all treatment and identical patient scripts. Actually, I started to discover many businesses, in general, are set up that way. Concentrating on the what and how they offered rather than the why. I saw professionals in the medical field, marketers, and restaurateurs…everywhere I looked, people were logging 50 or more hours a week just to run, survive, really, a business based on an industry standard. That's what motivated me to launch the eLIVate Club. I have a deep passion for supporting entrepreneurs in creating a business that is fueled by their why and allows the owner to live the fully juicy life they deserve.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm currently planning eLIVate Retreats for 2023. I want to help entrepreneurs create businesses with intent. And what I know for sure is when anyone expresses an energy that tells the world they won't be denied their goals, the universe begins to bend for that person. Content for the eLIVate Club will focus on eliminating the scarcity mentality that so many business owners operate from. When we change our perspective, we step into a higher frequency. That's what 2023 is about - living in a high frequency that leads to quantum leaps of success.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Going from starting high school in the U.S. speaking little to no English to coaching entrepreneurs and speaking in front of thousands of people has been, simultaneously, the most challenging and rewarding adventure of my professional life. I was born in Iran, and when my family and I came to America, I didn't speak English at all. Looking back, though, I know if I hadn't been in a figure-it-out-or-fail situation, I wouldn't have learned the language as quickly as I did.

As I'm sure any entrepreneur would explain, there are always struggles. I started my practice in 2007; of course, in 2008, the economy crashed. A lot of chiropractors were going out of business. Many businesses around the area where my practice was located were closing. Instead of focusing on the deteriorating economy, I decided to say, "If I can be successful in this crappy economy, you better believe I'm going to rock it when the economy picks back up in a few years."

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

To keep it simple, I would say:

  1. Have a vision, and keep that vision at the forefront of your mind.
  2. Trust your vision and trust yourself.
  3. Have a circle of influence, community, and mentors who have been there and done that.
