What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hi, my name is Laila, and I am the founder of Elevated Earth, a zero-waste self-care brand. Our customers are the ones paying closer attention to the products that they consume, the people looking to avoid plastics and toxic chemicals. Our goal is to provide our customers with high-quality products that are also next-level eco-friendly.
Tell us about yourself
Growing up, my mother had this book of homeopathic remedies that sparked my interest in natural wellness and self-care. My parents instilled in me a deep appreciation for natural beauty. In my late teens, I took up cosmetology; from then on, I started making my own personal care products, and to my surprise, I found that not only was it more affordable, but super effective. The idea of starting Elevated Earth came to me in the bathtub in my late 20s during a meditation. At that time in my life, financial independence was a priority for me. I saw myself starting this company and inspiring people to care for themselves and the planet. I started by making bath bombs, bath salts, and body scrubs in my kitchen and brainstorming packaging that wasn't made from plastic.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I'd say that my biggest accomplishment as a business owner is seeing other people understand and being excited about what I am doing. Especially children because they are the future of this planet!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is continuing to believe in your idea while investing a lot of time, work, and money before seeing any results.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Take the first step; the rest will follow.
- Outsource, don't think that you can do everything yourself.
- Stay true to yourself, what you are passionate about, and your vision.
