Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nick Snow, Founder of Elevate, located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We sell premium healthy snack boxes to customers all over the USA. Most of our snack boxes are suitable for vegans and people with food allergies, with gluten-free, nut-free, and soy-free options available. Our customers are a mixed audience but mostly consist of moms and women on the go who want to maintain their healthy lifestyle throughout the day or have healthier options available. Our boxes are also a big hit as gifts during the holiday months.

Tell us about yourself

I am a health food enthusiast who has been studying and trying out different diet plans for the last 10 years. After falling in love with the plant-based eating model, I wanted to create a high-quality snack box that people could keep around, so they always had healthy options available. I also wanted to use the snack box as a tool to help people discover new, interesting brands that they can add to their respective diet plans.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Launching the product and believing in its success of it is my biggest accomplishment I believe. If you can do it once, you can do it again and again. It's all about finding something that you think people will want and then making the best version of that product that you can.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Keeping up with the competition, advertising, and social media. Social media has been an endless exploration since it is everchanging, and so has advertising. Remember, you have to spend money to make money in advertising, and it's all about discovering the best methods for your business. Try a bunch, but only stick with what works. If it does work, double down on it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't be scared to try something new. Really sit down and map it out, and make sure that the niche you're thinking about would be open to a product or service like that. Then design the product how you want.
  2. Never lose faith, and as long as the numbers add up and you believe in what you're doing, you will be just fine. Stick with it, explore youtube videos on how to increase your business, read books, and find a mentor or mentor group of people who you know will support your dream.
  3. Remember, the internet is limitless in terms of information; all we have to do is start looking for it.
