What's your business, and who are your customers?

Most people think pain is a normal part of life. At Elevate Health Chiropractic, we know your body is a powerful healing machine. Our whole-body approach helps us find the root cause of your pain, create a plan, and help you return to a healthy and active lifestyle. We specialize in helping active individuals recover from injuries, reduce pain and return to the life they love.

Tell us about yourself

I first got the itch to open my own business after being an associate doctor for about three years. I was feeling burnout and didn't always see eye to eye on important things like patient care and business practices. I knew that I owed it to myself and my future patients to bet on myself and open my own practice that represented my values as a chiropractor and business owner.

My patients motivate me to get better and push through the challenges every day. It is so satisfying to see people heal and get the big picture of how chiropractic can improve their health and well-being.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say that my biggest accomplishment as a business owner thus far is surviving a pandemic. I was still in the early stages of business when the pandemic started. My business is still here and growing. If my business can survive a pandemic, then I can overcome any challenges that come my way. :)

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think one of the hardest things about being a business owner is wearing all the different hats that are required to get and keep a business up and running.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a mentor and community who can help guide you, advise you, be a sounding board when needed and help you avoid the costly mistakes that they made. Don't isolate yourself. Being a business owner can be lonely at times. Surround yourself with positive, innovative people that want to see you succeed.
  2. Set aside as much capital as you can before you open your business so that you have to borrow the least amount of money possible. Make sure to plan for your salary; this is an often overlooked expense but the most important, in my opinion.
  3. Keep your overhead low to start. It is much easier to become a profitable, thriving business when your overhead is reasonable. Start with the basics that are absolutely necessary to run your business; you can upgrade later when you have the revenue coming in.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

From a young age, I was fascinated with the human body, and I knew that I wanted to help people. I never liked taking medicine or being poked with needles, so I was always interested in more holistic, noninvasive health care options. When I was in college, I was in a car accident with my boyfriend. He sustained his 8th concussion in the accident and went from being a model student with a full-ride scholarship to having constant, debilitating headaches, no attention span, and a really poor short-term memory. Chiropractic care was the only thing that helped him and gave his life back. Witnessing his transformation firsthand motivated me to become a Chiropractor.
