What's your business, and who are your customers?
Elevate Counseling Services is a trauma-informed private group practice for outpatient behavioral health counseling. We treat clients as young as three into retirement age and beyond. Individuals, families, couples, and group therapy are all provided by our diverse team of 40+ master-level therapists.
Tell us about yourself
I am the founder and CEO of this seven-year young group practice. My original dream was to build a private practice that was both client-centered and employee-centered to truly elevate clinical group practice and behavioral health private sector business practices.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We are still here! We are all thriving, striving, and growing through the challenges of learning how to build and expand on hybrid workplace culture, the health issues that have impacted staff and clients due to the pandemic and subsequent fallout, as well as the inflation concerns, working with managed care and expanding on business as well as clinical insight.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Hiring to meet the needs of the communities that we serve and balancing offering competitive pay with the support, supervision, and benefits that are a core value to our mission of being a trauma-informed supportive workplace.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
For me, starting a business has been akin to saying "yes" to getting married and having children. It is a commitment that will impact who you are in the world and how you interact with it. Start a business if you have a desire to grow and be refined.
Start a business if you do not risk-averse and can handle "shoe-dropping" regularly. Start a business if you want to be on the leading edge of creating something new that has never existed before, to create something that has never existed before.
