What's your business, and who are your customers?
Elemental Archetypes guides women, non-binary, and gender-fluid individuals to reconnect their beauty narrative through Daoist metaphysical practices, including facial analysis, seasonal rituals, and Bazi consultations.
Tell us about yourself
My vision is to guide individuals to deconstruct the social construct of the beauty myth to reclaim the profound beauty narrative of their truth. I integrate my training as a doctor of East Asian medicine, community-based researcher, health justice educator, and over 20 years of practice in Buddhism and Daoism. My multidimensional background guides my work to redefine beauty through ancestral Daoist practice.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is deprogramming the idea of 'success' and redefining what it means to me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The most challenging thing about being a business owner is learning to balance work-life balance. I find this more difficult since I love what I do, and I am always thinking about work. My work in sharing Daoist practices is not just 'work' but rather a way of life for me, and therefore it becomes difficult to separate work and personal life.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Explore what 'success' and 'wealth' means to you beyond the monetary value.
- Learn to be okay with people in your close circle not fully understanding what you are doing.
- Build long-term partnerships rather than one-off short-term projects.
