What's your business, and who are your customers?
Through my life coaching business, EK Coaching & Wellness, LLC, I seek to create space to connect with oneself, to grasp what one truly wants, and to take action to achieve it. I support those navigating many challenges and empower them to make choices aligned with their authentic selves.
This work focuses on deeply exploring the present and moving forward with intention. By illuminating each person’s innate creativity, resilience, and resourcefulness, my coaching draws out the answers that already exist within.
I am passionate about empowering mothers as they navigate their new identity as parents. This is a genuinely unparalleled time. It is the most remarkable, joyful experience—and also an unsettling and deeply challenging one. It often has the power to make us question who we are now!
Tell us about yourself
I am a family nurse practitioner with diverse healthcare experience. I loved developing and nurturing relationships with patients and their families in this role. I enjoyed being their “medical home” to answer questions, offer empowering education, and care for their diverse healthcare needs. After welcoming my second child, I took a step back to recognize what inspires me.
My passion for maximizing mental wellness has been a constant throughout my personal and professional life. I decided to take my expertise as a health care provider, my experience as a mother, and the exhilaration I feel for helping people help themselves to the arena of life coaching. I completed Co-Active coach training through the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI). I leaped to start my coaching practice, EK Coaching & Wellness, LLC.
My goal is simple but powerful, to shed a little light on someone else. I aim to be a small piece of another’s journey to self-discovery, to becoming the leader in their life story, and to trust in the power and value of their unique voice.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has been starting something from nothing. It has been daring to be true to myself by pursuing this path of entrepreneurship and committing to shaping my practice in alignment with my values. I am proud to have leaped to follow a line of work that I have an unending passion for, entirely believe in, and am inspired to share with my clients.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. Essentially, accepting the unknown. Often, I cannot envision what things will look like for my business in the distant (or not-so-distant) future.
I can’t know the exact outcome of my networking or content creation. It can be challenging to focus on each step, each effort, and each decision for precisely what it is. To focus on enjoying and believing in the process and trusting in a favorable outcome based on that.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Identify your “why?” Revisit and redefine it often. What is the impact you want to have on your business? What drives you to pursue this? What will keep your fire lit as you grow this vision?
- Fall in love with the journey. All of it. The wins, the utter failures, the plateaus. Each step has value and contributes to the story of your business and your story as an entrepreneur.
- Own this new venture and step into this role, viewing things through opportunity, curiosity, and bravery. Share the news of this exciting new step. It would be a shame to keep this awesome thing you’re doing a secret!
