What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a "main street" business brokerage and "lower middle market" mergers and acquisitions firm. Our customers are privately held businesses (and their owners) as well.
Tell us about yourself
Before founding Edison Business Advisors, I spent six years as Regional Vice President for Florida Business Exchange (business brokerage), three years as President of a private equity group where I bought, sold, and operated several businesses in the IT, automotive, and transportation sectors, and 17 years at Ford Motor Company, where I worked in corporate M&A, led the post-merger integration efforts for Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, and Mazda, and helped establish an Asia-Pacific product development group. I went into the business because I wanted to control my destiny and assist business owners like myself acquire and exit their trades.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I sold 12 businesses in 2021 totaling $32M transaction sizes were $62K to $15M. My total sales volume sold earned me the Business Brokers of Florida (BBF) #1 Top Dollar Producer for the State of Florida. I placed first among 853 BBF intermediaries.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Having the patience to educate others, e.g., employees, clients, etc...
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Create a peer group of business owners in your industry or an adjacent industry.
- Set your goals higher than what you believe you can reach.
- Use your peer group to brainstorm how to exceed your goals.
