Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Yizi Yang, Founder and Chief Photographer of Easy Photography Studio, located in Northville, MI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I specialize in wedding photography, engagement photography, newborn baby portrait, children, senior portrait, family photography, boudoir photography, event photography, commercial photography, and real estate photography in Ann Arbor & Greater Detroit, MI.

Tell us about yourself

I've always been passionate about creative images. 8 years ago, I decided to give up my IT job and pursue something I really love, so I became a professional photographer - ever since, I've been able to help people capture their best moments and the same time be, creatively producing the photos I like.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I love what I do.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

To balance family time with my work hours. When my daughter was 4 months old, I had to put her in a baby carrier when I shot my real estate photos. I was so grateful my clients were all very understanding.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Stay positive.
  2. Skill and tenacity are equally important.
  3. Don't stop improving yourself or your business outcome.
