What's your business, and who are your customers?
Drop FX is a botanical science company focused on creating powerful drop-form supplements for all aspects of life. Our customers are performance-minded people who want to reap the benefits of nature to improve their workouts, professional work, competitive gaming, sleep, and outdoor adventures.
Tell us about yourself
I was a professional squash player, but I had always dreamed of being an inventor. The intensity of professional sports prepared me well for the hardships of business. I work with incredible people, most of them my childhood best friends. They are all partners in the business, and our team motivates us all to work hard to provide everyone with an exciting future. We all have a passion for business and entrepreneurship.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment was being able to hire my best friends. Coming from squash, I originally could not conceive the possibility of working with them. As the business grew, I realized it was something that could quickly handle that. It was a risk working with close friends who also were not privy to the business world. The fact that hiring them worked, and works to this day, is the thing I'm most proud of in business.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Nobody trusts you until you prove you're trustable. It takes years of work to prove yourself, and you never really fully do. People will always have reservations about your product, business, work ethic, work culture, etc. All you can do is outperform their disbelief.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
For anyone dreaming of starting a business, start with a small achievable vision. Mine was 6,000 per month for me to live my dream life. I didn't worry about taxes, business legalities, licensing, trademarks, or anything like that, I only focused on discovering and executing the exact steps necessary to achieve that original vision. I knew I could backtrack and figure out that other business stuff later. Prove the concept first, and figure everything else out later. You'll have the funds to do it properly if the concept works.
