What's your business, and who are your customers?
We offer easy-to-follow step-by-step tutorials on creating high-end wedding and evening dresses. We help dressmakers of all skill levels turn their passion for sewing into a steady income.
Tell us about yourself
As a fashion designer and owner of a large bridal salon, I needed highly qualified personnel, and it was extremely difficult to find them. To solve this problem, I started my private courses, where I shared professional sewing and pattern drafting methods and techniques. There was a huge demand, and I started making videos for my students. I soon realized that dressmakers all over the world yearn for this knowledge but were unable to obtain it. Fashion colleges, located only in major cities, are very expensive and have limited capacity. What's more, the colleges don't teach practical bridal fashion and corset making. Thus, the online fashion design school "Dressmaking Academy" was born.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The success of our students from all over the world. Thousands of Dressmaking Academy members from 168 countries have turned their hobby into a profession and a successful fashion business. They are realized creatively and financially, and they live their dream of doing what they love.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a fashion designer, I have found the technical side of online business to be extremely challenging. Luckily, I have been fortunate to work with an amazing and talented team.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Become really good at what you do.
- Focus on building an audience and community.
- There are no shortcuts. Great things take time.
