Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Marcia Martin, Founder of The Heart Healing Foundation, located in West Hollywood, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Heart Healing Foundation helps people recover from abuse and trauma with the help of the angelic realm. My customers have experienced trauma and are ready to take responsibility for where they are and how they got there.

They want a better quality of life, to feel empowered, and the freedom to live a life that feels good. They're ready to see every aspect of their lives transformed and to leave the darkness of despair behind so they can step out into the light of love.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a spiritual empowerment counselor, and I got here the hard way. After much pain, many poor decisions, and feeling as though I would never find a way to move forward, I was ready to spend time in the angelic realm and learn how to heal my heart. The Angel Heart Healing Technique and all of the daily living tools they have given me keep making my life better. Now, it's my honor and passion to share all of life's possibilities with others instead of all of its limitations.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Seeing lives transformed is my greatest contribution. Sharing the knowledge I have acquired and using my ability to help others brings endless rewards.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

My most difficult challenge is scheduling time for myself. I start out with great intentions to take a day off, and then something comes to mind that would be helpful to share, and before I realize it, I've spent the day creating a video or blog post that will solve one of life's problems. However, since I'm spending the day with the angels, I still end up feeling empowered.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure that your business is aligned with your heart. If you're not feeling passionate about what you're doing, your business may feel like a millstone around your neck. You'll be spending a lot of time with your business. You can't rely on others to do it for you, so make sure you're inspired and uplifted by whatever you do.
  2. Put yourself first, and make sure you're taking wonderful care of yourself. It's not selfish to care for yourself. It's imperative for your success. A healthy you will create a healthy business, and a healthy business will care for you and your community.
  3. Don't try to do it alone. In the beginning, you may not be able to hire help, but you can join a support group of like-minded individuals and receive valuable information, support and encouragement. Your success isn't going to happen overnight, so you have to be prepared to stay the course. Remember, you have something that someone else needs, and they'll never receive it if you give up now.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Expect to win, you may not finish first, but at the very least, you'll get out of the starting gate. Once you're out of the gate, you'll have momentum, and momentum makes it easier to keep going when the path becomes steep. Remember, everyone who begins has gotten further than the one who has never started.
