What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Professional Speaker and Certified Life Coach for women in medicine. I partner with women to them to help them find fulfillment within their careers and create integration between their work and personal lives.
Tell us about yourself
I have spoken professionally for almost two decades. I now enjoy being able to communicate a more authentic message to women in medicine about self-care, setting boundaries, and how to create a life they really love. The desire to help my colleagues in a way that is useful to them motivates me every day. Physicians need to be emotionally balanced so that they take better care of their patients.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was starting my own Ear, Nose, and Throat practice and medical spa immediately after completing my residency. I was a solo practitioner and handled seeing patients, surgery, emergency room call, managing employees, and the administrative tasks of the practice.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is setting boundaries with myself. I have to set a strict stopping time so that I can focus on hobbies, spend time with friends and family, and have time to unwind after a long day.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure you set realistic expectations for yourself.
- Set aside time not to be productive. Some of my best ideas and inspirations have come from quiet time.
- There are always moments of self-doubt that an entrepreneur faces. Learn to quiet the voice of self-doubt with positive self-talk and one positive action towards your future goal.
