Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in skincare but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Danielle Ramchandani, founder of DPR SKN, Inc., located in Ladera Ranch, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

DDPR SKN [deeper skin] is skincare that goes deeper. Our philosophy is about helping people to get on a deeper level with their own skincare by integrating wellness and self-love to promote a healthy lifestyle. Formulated with natural and simple ingredients for a clear complexion. DPR SKN heals, soothes, and hydrates your skin, empowering you to radiate confidence.

With a little bit of positivity and guidance, DPR SKN encourages you to embrace your natural beauty and helps to give you a little more skin confidence with the Clay Mask and the Face Oil, products that give real results to help keep your skin looking and feeling its best.

Tell us about yourself

I have always been interested in the beauty industry; I studied about it at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising along with business management. After having my own skincare struggles with acne, I decided to formulate a product that naturally heals acne blemishes without the side effects of drying out the skin. After years of researching and working on school projects, I formulated my signature product, the Clay Mask, from scratch. I learned this is something not many cosmetic labs or companies do; instead, they make slight variations to existing products. I was very proud of myself for this. I get motivation each day when customers message me and share their reviews, before and after pictures, and re-purchase my products. There's nothing that makes me more fulfilled than knowing I've helped someone heal their skin and gain more self-confidence.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my business accomplishments as a business owner would be doing it all on my own, with the exception of a graphic designer and the cosmetic lab; the idea from concept to competition has been my vision. It feels good to know I had an idea and executed it. Having customers re-purchase my products time and time again is definitely another accomplishment because they see the products working, and out of all the skincare products on the market, they choose to mine.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner for me is the marketing aspect. I am a one-woman-team, so doing it all isn't feasible. It's difficult to compete with companies that have large marketing budgets and resources at their disposal to reach their customers.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't wait for perfection. Put it out there. One thing I wish I did while I was in school was blogging more to create a following and awareness around my brand.
  2. Put yourself out there, reach out to people, network, be persistent.
  3. Look for help in areas that aren't your strong suit
hire an intern if needed to help you manage all the tasks.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

DPR SKN is a small female-founded business. Our products are made in the USA. Supporting a small business is supporting a dream. My goal for DPR SKN is to expand the range of products that are unique and needed in the market while helping people embrace their natural beauty and gain more confidence in themselves and their skin.
